How did I get so many Twitter followers?
Everyone has been asking how I got so many good, targeted Twitter followers. I have over 3000 now, and while some people on Twitter have tens of thousands, the difference is my followers are more close to my target audience (business owners, other pr and news people). So, what’s my secret? Well, it’s actually pretty simple, and you don’t need a program, an automated system or expensive software to do it. In fact, what I did was totally free. All I really had to do was follow people who are in my target audience and who also follow others back, then to retain those followers I interacted with them and sent out useful information. This would be something like tips on better PR, a tweet on a hot media topic or a useful plug for media members who are looking for interviewees. Easy. Here is the formula again:
1. Pick people to follow who are in your target audience
2. Follow people who actually follow others (good karma)
3. Interact with those following you by replying, retweeting and repeating (RRR)
4. Then to convert them into buyers/clients, send out helpful and useful information your audience can actually use (no silly sappy quotes or spammy messages, just good, useful info)
That’s it!
