Summer love and red hot media - It’s easy to want to stay in the season that is upon us, but a smart PR person thinks ahead. Start planning your media messages now for the heat and holidays of Summer. Get creative, think of standing out and always, always think about what will make the news. If you want some ideas look up news in the archives of your local TV station or newspaper. Find out what stories tend to be on everyone’s mind each year and then give it that special twist to bring the attention to you and your company. Think new, think newsworthy, think outside the box.

They used to say we’d have a black president when pigs fly. Now we have both Barack Obama and Swine Flu!
There’s been a media frenzy over Swine Flu this last week (and continuing on into this week). Many people have been worried. Some people have been bored with it. Meanwhile school children have all rejoiced. But could your company profit from it? I don’t mean to sound morbid over a crisis situation. Disease and death are very serious. But perhaps you have a product that combats disease that the public should know about, or you are a nutritionist, an alternative medical practitioner, a doc with a private practice. This is the time to share with the public what you know. This is also a time for companies to come together and let the public know how they are protecting their employees and making sure they are not a part of spreading this disease. These are all messages that should be shared.
